Comments: I have been a huge Mickey Rooney fan for a few years now. It all started when I first saw Breakfast At Tiffany's. (My idol is Audrey Hepburn) and it went on from there. The first Andy Hardy movie I saw was "Love Finds Andy Hardy" and I thought it was really funny, but my favorite Andy Hardy film is "Andy Hardy Meets Debutante". I'm a girl who loves classic movies from the 30's, 40's and 50's so there is no doubt I love his movies. And I've gotta admit, he was a cutie back then too.
People say that his role as Mr. Yunioshi in Breakfast at Tiffany's wasn't their favorite character in the movie, but I strongly disagree with them. He was very funny in it and played it well.

I have always felt like Mickey was a part of my family because my brother was a lot like him in looks, stature and talent. He made life like living in the movies. Rodney has run on rough times like Mickey but the love of the Lord keeps him going. He always shined when he had an audience just like Mickey. Our family get togethers were like a family comedy show. I once saw Mickey in the Mid 1980's in Burbank California. He was filming with Bob Hope. It was thrilling to see him in person. I looked forward to seeing the Bob Hope Special they were filming. When the show was aired, I was quite disappointed. Mickey's scenes were cut. It was a shame because MICKEY SHINED BRIGHTER THAN HOPE. Thanks for that special evening Mickey. You live in my heart. I cant remember the first time I watched a Mickey Rooney performance, its like hes ALWAYS been there in my life, popping up in films and delighting me with his energy, unique talent and gift for putting 110% into each performance. He sums up all that was great about the early days of cinema and the star/studio system where a young talent was recognized, nurtured and molded...
creating what can truly be called a STAR unlike todays actors who are given the title which has lost any real meaning. Mickey though has done more then enough to warrant the title star and is undeniably one of our last great performers, no longer have we got the likes of him, a man who is a jack of all trades and who has achieved so much with a wealth of experience on stage/ in show business before he even stepped in front of a movie camera. He hasn't had an easy life at times either, what with marital problems, periods in his career when he was "out of fashion" and other events which would have sent other folk over the edge. Here is a guy though who has weathered the bad times because of a love for life and what he does, I defy anyone not to look at what he has achieved and not respect/admire one of the cinema and stages greatest performers. Comments: I've watched Mickey's movies since my boyhood in the 50's. He had a way of making me cry when he cried. He is a very emotional and energetic person and communicates all of this very well.
In the Summer of 1992 a former student of mine and recording engineer, I was working on a project with Hugh Martin, former pianist for Judy Garland and composer of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". He had invited me to come to the studio and watch as he was recording Hugh Martin doing a sound track for a new Broadway musical. He never said a word to me and as I looked into the sound booth I saw a very energetic little man trying to coach one of the singers to perfect his "French" accent for one of his lines. In a split second I saw that it was Mickey Rooney. I was in shock!
I also had the pleasure of meeting his lovely wife Jan that evening and after a short visit and a few days later I found myself, along with my former student, on the stage with Jan performing for the national postal convention, honoring letter carriers and other honored post office personnel.
This began a performance relationship with her that led to appearances in churches, shopping malls, the "Silver Spur" awards for people associated with Westerns, and the highlight being an appearance on the "Vicki Lawrence Show" for an appearance focusing on "Hollywood Wives".
It was a spectacular couple of years that ended in 1994 when I moved away from there.
I've since lost touch with them, as they've moved and have changed phone numbers, but am very interested in rekindling that relationship, or a least getting in touch with them again.
I'm very happy to have found your organization in Mickey's honor.

I grew up spending summers with my grandparents and we would watch Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland movies. And I fell in love. I got to shake Mickey's hand one time. It made my day! I cried so hard that night on the way home! I love Mickey!

Comments: I love Mickey's innocence! He plays such wonderful characters with wisdom as well. I became a fan as a little girl growing up in an abusive home, one day I fliped the t.v. on and was able to watch an Andy Hardy movie, I was able to laugh with joy and feel love! I had hope that there was something better; a world with a person like Mickey Rooney in it, with genuine kindness and graciousness! I simply feel in love with each character he portrayed over the years, as well as the man himself! He survived the madness of Hollywood, he did not become a statistic of a fallen child actor, but despite his size, maybe not fitting into the "hollywood hunk" style men, he went on to persue a great career! He has encouraged me in so many ways! And in my eyes he is the hunkiest of Hollywood men!

Comments: Growing up I enjoyed all of Mickey's movies and I still enjoy seeing them. I and my Sisters and Brothers all walked to a theater each Saturday to see three movies at the special price of 8 RC Cola bottle caps. This was at the Winter Park Beecham Theater. The year/s were 1961-1964. There was usually a Mickey and Judy film playing. I grew up on his comedy and loved it. Now that I have grown I appreciate him more today than ever. He is just amazing! He still works! That is a true American! I also truly appreciate Jessie for her efforts to bring this site and all this information to us. Thank you Jessie! I do want to find out more information on my Cousin, Violet Hoffman. She worked on the sets of many of Mickey's movies as an extra. She was Mickey's age and they were friends. Comments: I saw many Mickey Rooney films on TV when I was a kid back in the 1950s. More were shown on late-night TV as I grew older. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, many of his films came out on video tape and I bought them as fast as I could find them.
Mickey was my "hero" when I was a kid. I'm not sure exactly why I like anyone, but I think Mickey is one of greatest talents of the entertainment industry. It seems like he can do anything - sing, dance, act, play piano and drums and on and on. He is SO exuberant - almost to the point of being hyperactive. His facial expressions are fantastic and seemingly endless. He's simply a lot of fun to watch!
